Good points, but they don't address why I want to clean it. I mainly want to clean it for privacy. For example,Cookies are also an target of frequent deletion.
Cookies cannot store or transmit malware and cannot contain any information beyond what you provide via forms on the web site and what is publicly available to any web server you connect to. Cookies from one site cannot be accessed by another site. While this is technically true, ad networks still have ways to track you.And while Safari does try to prevent it third party cookies, there are ways around that as well. I don't like advertising strategy used by CleanMyMac. Usually different malware software distribute self in a like manner. But I can recommend to try old and well known for many mac users OnyX to clean caches and etc, and Disk Inventory X to find large files on your disks.
I use them since 2000's and they are totally useful for me.Also you can manage disk space with Storage Management in MacOS El Capitan, which available at About This Mac Storage Manage. This tool also helped me a lot to move rare used files to iCloud Drive. I have it and also the app that deleted repeats. Here's the thing, if you have more than 120gb on your Mac it really isn't going to be doing much.
It has a very attractive design and does what is promised in the sense that you do have something like five gigs Freed up from it but I don't really feel like it's necessary or that helpful. The deletion of duplicates was a bit of a toss up because I found it wasn't always accurate in finding if something was a true duplicates or not. In retrospect I think I probably could have done without it.
